Why is singing good for you?
Singing has been shown to improve our sense of happiness and wellbeing. Research has found, for example, that people feel more positive after actively singing than they do after passively listening to music.

Why Warm-Ups Matter: Preparing Your Voice and Mind to Sing
Starting each rehearsal with a warm-up isn’t just a nice-to-have — it’s essential. Just like athletes stretch their muscles before exercise, singers need to prepare their voices and minds to perform at their best. A thoughtful warm-up can mean the difference between a strained voice and a confident, connected sound.
Strawberry Concert 2025
Music and a cream tea! Our annual Strawberry Concert took place at a new venue this year, the lovely Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth.
Due to popular demand, we had moved to a bigger venue this year. and still managed to sell out! There were performances by Cantorum and guest choir Highcliffe Harmony. The music was light, Summery and fun.
A large, enthusiastic audience enjoyed a delicious cream tea as the choirs entertained - a delight to the ears as well as to the tastebuds!
Tickets were £12.50 each
Proceeds from the ticket sales and raffle were donated to the Parkinson's UK Lutterworth Support Group.

Regular Rehearsals
Our regular choir rehearsals are the heart of what we do at Cantorum. Held weekly during term time, they offer members the chance to connect, rehearse repertoire, and grow musically as part of a supportive and vibrant vocal community.
Each rehearsal is led by our musical director, and typically includes a physical and vocal warm-up, detailed work on current pieces, and time for ensemble blend and musicality. Whether we're polishing harmonies or learning a new song from scratch, rehearsals are engaging, productive, and often great fun.
We aim to strike a balance between musical excellence and accessibility — singers of all levels are welcome, and we take care to make sure everyone feels included and encouraged. We work on a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary, ensuring there's something for every voice and interest.
For many members, rehearsals are not just about singing — they're about connection, belonging, and joy. You're warmly invited to come along and see what it's all about.
